So, last night at a dinner someone asked me what the worst place that I have experienced was. Their reasoning for the question was because everyone always asks about the best, so they wanted to know the worst. Fair question I thought, but I realized that it was not such an easy one to answer.
Realistically, it would be easy to just name some less enjoyable experiences, but I have not had too many really worth noting. Surely, traveling is not all fun and games; there are difficult times. However, in my opinion traveling is experiencing others in different ways. As you travel, I believe that you find some places more appealing than others, but I think that it is completely personal. The truth is, in my experience the places that you go and people who you meet have a way of becoming a part of you. When you have a bad experience it is not necessarily the places fault, but it is more likely timing. Every place has something to offer or learn from, you just have to look and be open to the lesson. Occasionally, you may have to take things with a grain of salt, but that is all part of the journey. Remember there is one thing that no one can take from you; that is, how you choose to respond to a situation.
Therefore, after being temporarily puzzled, I choose to plead the fifth because for me nothing has been bad.
What do you think? Do you have a “worst place” that you have been to? Or do you agree with me?
