Street Art in Montreal Canada

The Artistic Scene in Montreal

It has been a few years since I first visited Montreal. Both times have been brief, but enjoyable. Also, I think it has helped that I have visited twice during the summer months as I am not sure that I would fare so well in the winter.

The last time I visited, I was interested to learn about the eclectic nature Montreal. It is a diverse and multi-cultural with a seemingly strong appreciation for the arts. There are music festivals, live performances in the parks, and other events that help to give the city some character. With this in mind, it is by no surprise that there are a lot of really great street art works within the city.

Walking around the city, I encountered a lot of great pieces that I hadn’t seen the first time I visited. Perhaps because some of them are new or I was just in a different area of the city. Additionally, I found it interesting to see several works created by artists who I have seen elsewhere, such as in Puerto Rico. I didn’t always have a deep appreciation for street art growing up, but that was mainly because I never saw good works. After traveling through a few more countries, I’ve found that there is a certain international-ness to street art.

Here are some of the street art works that I saw in Montreal. I’ll start with some interesting comparisons of art created by the same artists in Puerto Rico and Montreal.

These two above pieces are very unique, but yet very distinct. The artist is: …ITИI.

I am not sure if these two above were created by the same artist, but they have a similar feel to them. I’m almost positive I saw a work almost identical to the Montreal one in Puerto Rico, but I couldn’t find a picture. Perhaps, I just didn’t take one, or was thinking of something else.

Below are some more interesting street art pieces:

  1. That’s funny – just left Montreal where we had returned after a year of travel. Saw many of the same murals you have pictured above and have a bunch of them in the post I just published. Small world.
They actually have a street art festival in Montreal now. That might have something to do with all the new street art we were noticing.

  2. Such beautiful Street arts in Montreal. The graphics and design they use are really very much new and never seen before. The abstracts behind them are really intriguing
