Sunday, January 21

We did not receive the Sunday program for 2024. SanSe Sundays traditionally carry the Misa al Santo Patrón, the folkloric and trova programing, and the biggest salsa closers of the weekend.

What the 2024 program tells you about SanSe

La Perla had a full stage, three nights running. Epílogio and Sebastián Otero on Thursday, Trending Tropics on Friday, Mima and the International Dub Ambassadors on Saturday. The neighborhood below the walls is now a fixture of the official program, not a footnote.

The open mic had a winner’s slot. Both Plaza V Centenario and Plaza de Armas carved out a fifteen-minute “Ganador Open Mic” slot on Saturday. The festival built a pipeline for unknown acts onto its two biggest stages.

Friday was extraordinary. José Feliciano at 4:30, Ilé at 6:00, Olga Tañón at 7:30, Ednita at 9:30. One stage, one evening.

The daytime layer keeps growing. Salsa classes with Flor Botta, Zumba at Plaza Colón, the Banda Municipal de Humacao at 11:00 AM, and the Coro de Niños de San Juan at the Teatro Tapia. SanSe’s family-friendly daytime face is deliberate programming.

A note on the edition number. The 2024 day-sheets carry a “50 Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián” logo. That figure does not survive scrutiny: the official 2020 flyer billed that year as the 50th, and the 2014 flyer billed itself as the 44th. Both fit together; a 50th in 2024 does not fit either. The logo looks like a leftover asset from the 2020 anniversary branding, carried over onto the template. We have not assigned 2024 an edition number rather than repeat a number we cannot support.
